Trusting God like a child again.

When we are young we feel invincible. Unshakable. The world is at our feet. As we get older we get into a routine of life. We loose that feeling of being invincible-I can do anything.  Life just happens and we start to feel more like bystanders than participants of it.  We start to doubt and only dream of the things we wish we could do.  We eventually stop being like children.

We end up robbing ourselves and robbing God.  We forget to seek God and dream with Him.  Unfortunately,  we end up putting God in a box. And say this is all God can do in me and through me.  This is all God has for me.  And this is not true.  God desires so much more for us.  He wants to have an ongoing conversation with us.  He wants us to not doubt Him.  He wants us to walk on water with Him.  God wants us to not look at the circumstances but at Him.  To look God in the eyes and step out in faith with Him and to truely believe that we are invincible.  That God is with us, so who can be against us.

We so often doubt.  Doubt that God has something more for me.  Doubt that God can use me.  Doubt that I have something to give.  Doubt that God can use my weakness, my strength for something greater.  We doubt that God can provide.  We doubt that God can heal, restore, build.  We forget that God is the same today as the God of the Bible who does big and miraculous things.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heat and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

I think of Noah, who didn’t let doubt stop him from building the ark.

Moses leading the Israelites and they are at the Red Sea with the Egyptian army behind them.

The Israelites walking around Jericho-I am sure they looked foolish but that didn’t stop them from trusting God.

What does that mean for us.  It’s taking our everyday and adding God in it.  It means, begin dreaming with God.  Asking God what do you have for me? What do you want me to do?  How can I show your love?  How can I trust you more?  Show me?

And it will look different for each person because God is calling us all in different ways.  For me, it’s stepping out boldly in prayer with my kids.  Showing them how I trust in God and how to have a relationship with Him. From praying for no more cold weather to asking for healing. To asking God to help us find the lost lovey. For others it might be following that dream of a new business.

When a child goes out to play they don’t measure the risk.  Children climb up things all the time and don’t think about “what if I fall.”

The point is to not loose that child like faith.  To be bold.  To be invincible. To be unshakable.  No matter the circumstances.  To Trust in God and to trust what He is calling us into.
