Community and children

I am so grateful that my children are able to grow up in a community.  A community of believers from all sorts of backgrounds, young and old.  My children learn how to relate to 3 yr olds, 18 yr olds, 28 yr olds, and 58 yr olds.  People from different countries and cultures.  It’s great!

Thursday nights we come together as a community of local YWAM missionaries, students and friends.  You can often find the kids dancing, waving flags, jumping and singing during worship.

I enjoy that my children can sit and color in the back while someone speaks. And its okay if they are talking quietly.  It is amazing to see a 20 yr old go and sit with my daughter and color.  I love how my children are embraced into the community and families respected.

It’s amazing to see how my girls love hanging around our community.  How they are always asking if someone can come over or if they can go and play with someone.

I love living in a community.  God created us to live in community.  Just as he lives in community: father, son and Holy Spirit.  And with each one of us!  We can learn so much from living in community.  The support of a community – knowing that at any given moment I can go up to someone and ask for prayer. I can just go out the door and talk to a friend.  There is always someone to give me a word of encouragement.
